Redesigning, grizzly style
It has become an undesired routine to update my blog each time I have a new design. However, I hope that this time will last a bit longer (I seem to remember saying likewise for the previous ones). I’ve also taken the time to wander more deeply into the internal ways of wordress, changing the homepage to a custom templated page. I’m still in the process of fixing a few quirks up, but it shouldn’t take long.
Regarding the navigation, I’ve also rethought the use of this website. The blog part is no longer the predominant content (well, to this day it is, but that shall change soon). I’ve wanted to push my photography passion more, and enable my site to be able to host and display such content.
For the moment, I have the “Portraits” and “Cosplay” categories. I still have to work the best way to display these, be it by Event, Model, Date or whatnot. I might also later add “Still life” which I did on my original mockups.
I’m still also trying to update my music category more often, but again, and finding it hard to display information in an optimal, user friendly way. Expect more to come.

More redesining and some random blah
I’ve rethought the way content is displayed on this site, and added the “music” and “photo” page instead of the category subholders. Still hesitant on how to manage my galleries. Hosing them on my ftp seems like a pain (2mb upload limit in php, and as each pic is usually between 2 and 5mb, it’s a no go).
Might go with Flicks, or script my own ftp zip uploader and importer, dunno. I Will see.
On an other note, just got myself a new Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.0 HSM OS Macro lens, along with a tripod. Having lots of fun for the moment, discovering how both work and react to different settings on my 50D.

Also, during november, I crashed my car, so I bought myself a new one. A nice Hyundai i10 1.2 “sport”, grey coloured. Really nice to drive, really nice audio sound too, hehe. Very different from my old Subaru Justy 4×4!
Enhancing the Blog
If someone actually does visit my blog on a weekly basis, you might realise the design changed once again. Unhappy with the previous dark atmosphere and lessened readability, I’ve spent more time trying out new ideas.
960 grid
Thought it’s a very loose interpretation, I’ve based my site on a 960GS. The only elements not following this rule is the navigation bar, in case I want to add extra tags/pages. I’ve also just noticed the footer is lacking the initial left-margin of 10px, which I’ll fix sometime in some near yet distant future.
Line height and width
I’ve played around with the font size to display around 20 to 25 words per line. I might tweak this up in the future to get it down to 15-20, just for the extra readability. I’ve also added sufficient line-height and white space to make reading more enjoyable. This was achieved in the previous design, so it’s not new to this one.
Future improvements
I am trying to imagine the next pieces I’m going to attach to this site. First off, I need to write more frequently, because what good is a site if there is no content? Next off, I’m thinking of adding some custom pages to manage my uploaded music and pictures, instead of posting articles and links to the mp3′s/png’s.
Lying in bed
Had an operation on Monday, and since am spending the week lying in bed. Got fed up with doing nothing, so I got up to take some pictures.
Just sharing some stuff~ might add more during the week.
November 2010
I came back on wednesday from 5 days up in Edinburgh at a friends’. Whilst it was an amazing trip, I also took some time out from socializing for a trip in the city. This resulted in some pictures taken, and I decided to make one into a November 2010 Calendar. Maybe I’ll post some for other months next time, and not half way through the month 
Where nothing comes to mind
Yes, that’s right. I’m reopening yet another site/blog/whatever. Was tired of the old one not being updated regularly enough, and the awfully long domain name. It was a pain to use, so here I am, back with my new domain name.
So, why Ilestis? Well, it’s related to the game eRepublik I used to play, where I randomly typed in this name upon registration. It doesn’t mean anything to my knowledge, but I’ve grown fond of it.
Anyway, I’ve set up 4 categories I’ll be posting upon this blog to keep things simple. Geek is pretty self explanatory, while Music will be mostly composed of songs I create, or concerts I go to. Otaku is a Japanese word which is, in common culture, related to an anime/figurine freek. Misc will contain anything else I want to post, but seeing as my interest areas are related to those 3, dunno what I’ll be putting in there.
My blog is also a chance to have fun with interfacing my custom wordpress theme. I work as a web developer but have little opportunity to expand and try out design and UXing, so hopefully I’ll get more into it here.
For anything else, the about page is probably your best chance at getting to know anything else you would need.
